Taconite Rocks! is a comprehensive curriculum developed by educators on Minnesota's Iron Range to be used in sixth-grade classes.
Explore with your students the history of iron mining in Minnesota, the process of turning iron into steel, and the careers supported by the iron mining industry.
Combining science, language skills, mathematics and social studies, Taconite Rocks! can be used in a variety of classroom settings. In addition, Taconite Rocks! allows educators the freedom of teaching the curriculum in its entirety or picking and choosing activities--and delivery formats--from three units: history, process, and careers.
